SUITE PALAZZO AMALTEO

Amalteo is the name of a noble family belonging to Oderzo, Treviso. Several members of Amalteo family were distinguished in literature, art and science during the Renaissance period. The eldest brother, Geronimo, was a celebrated physician and philosopher teaching at the university of Padua. He commissioned a Palladian architect to build on the bank of Rio San Stin his secondary residence, Ca’ Amalteo. With its pediment, marble balusters, Serlian windows, the palazzo completed around 1550 adheres to all the principles of Renaissance architecture : proportion and symmetry, balance and grace. Designed in accordance with the precepts that Palladio introduced into architecture in the 1530s, the Palazzo Amalteo is a paragon of the aesthetics of the Venetian Renaissance.

Suite Palazzo Amalteo has chosen the famous Chimera of Arezzo as its emblem. This bronze, a masterpiece of Etruscan art, dating from around 400 BC, is preserved today in the National Archaeological Museum in Florence. It was discovered in 1553 in Arezzo in Toscany, shortly after the Palazzo Amalteo was finished building (1550).

The  Chimaera is a creature which is the origin of all dragons of western mythology, a myth that still fascinates us today. If this fabulous creature still fascinates us, it is probably because that it anticipates  the Lion of Saint Mark!

If you arrive by water taxi, the driver will drop you off on the Corte Amaltea. Leaving this charming and quiet square, you immediately turn right at the corner onto Calle Albanesi (50 meters away) and you will find a separate private entrance with an intercom. The refined 100-square-meter suite on the groundfloor boasts high ceilings overlooking an exclusive white Venitian terrazzo and is furnished with elegant designer furniture and objects, blending  contemporary design with the historical elegance of the Palazzo. The suite is decorated with a collection of contemporary artworks and Murano chandeliers from 1750, blending contemporary minimalism and baroque art. The space offers a luxurious interior with 4 beds, a fully equipped kitchen, a modern bathroom and toilet, a private water door, and a private jetty on the canal, ideal for enjoying a breakfast or an aperitif. Perfect for a couple with 2 children or 2 couples, the suite features a charming bright living area opened onto a private jetty overlooking the San Stin canal.

If you arrive by water taxi, the driver will drop you off right on the Corte Amaltea in front of the Amalteo palace's private entrance. You will find a separate entrance with an intercom. The refined 100-square-meter interior on the ground floor boasts its high ceilings and features elegant white walls lacquered with marmorino and an exclusive white Venitian terrazzo, reflecting Italian excellence.The two large rooms, furnished with designer furniture and objects, blends contemporary design with the historical elegance of the Palazzo. The space is decorated with a collection of contemporary artworks and Murano chandeliers from 1750, thus mixing contemporary minimalism with baroque art. The largest room offers a 6-meter-long white aluminum table, a kitchen luxuriously fully equipped and retractable, The space includes a modern bathroom and toilet, a charming private water door, and a private jetty overlooking the San Stin canal, ideal for enjoying an aperitif.
There is the option of asking the municipal authorities for permission to hold a dinner party or cocktail party in front of the Palazzo Amalteo, outside on the Corte Amaltea.

Palazzo Amalteo is just a 11-minute walk from Venice Santa Lucia train station. If needed, a porter service is available upon request to assist with your luggage.
By water taxi
Alternatively, you can reach Palazzo Amalteo by water taxi from the station, which will take you directly to the Corte Amaltea which is 1-minute walk from our private door. The journey takes 15-20 minutes and costs €80 for up to 4 passengers with 6 bags. 

From the Piazzale Roma Car Terminal
On foot
The Piazzale Roma Car Terminal is a 12-minute walk from Palazzo Amalteo. If needed, a porter service is available upon request to assist with your luggage.
 By water taxi
Alternatively, you can reach Palazzo Amalteo by water taxi from Piazzale Roma, which will take you directly to the Corte Amaltea which is 1-minute walk from our private door. The journey takes 15-20 minutes and costs €80 for up to 4 passengers with 6 bags.

From the Marco Polo airport
By ATVO bus
ATVO offers an express connection from Marco Polo Airport to the Piazzale Roma Terminal without intermediate stops. From there, follow the directions provided in the "From the Piazzale Roma Car Terminal" section to reach us.
By water taxi
Alternatively, you can reach Palazzo Amalteo by water taxi from the airport, which will take you directly to Corte Amaltea which is 1-minute walk from our private door. The journey takes 35-45 minutes and costs €160 for up to 4 passengers with 6 bags.

By car
If you're traveling by car, you can park at San Marco Garage. From there, follow the directions provided in the "From the Piazzale Roma Car Terminal" section to reach us.

Supplies are very easy to obtain: there is a fully stocked supermark at 50 meters from the house: Conad Supermarket. Just a short walk away, take a leisurely stroll along, you will find a variety of shops and restaurants run by true Venetians, and fully immerse yourself in the authentic soul of the lagoon city.  

In this bustling environment, we would recommend several trattoria, in particular a casual and authentic restaurant, located 50 meters from the Palazzo: Muro Frari.

You can reach any location of interest by water taxi that picks you up in the Corte Amaltea. Our location is extremely convenient: the Corte Amaltea is exactly in front of the private entrance door of Events Palazzo Amalteo; it is 1-minute walk from the private entrance door of Suite Palazzo Amalteo.

By ACTV Vaporetto / San Toma Water Ferry Stop
Lines 1 & 2: the nearest stop of ACTV Vaporetto to Palazzo Amalteo is San Toma, which is 400 meters walk from Calle Alabanesi (Suite Palazzo Amalteo) or Corte Amaltea (Event Palazzo Amalteo). 
The Line 1 and Line 2 connect San Toma with all central Venice areas along the Grand Canal.
Line 1 from San Toma: Ca' Rezzonico 1 stop, Gallerie dell'Accademia Museum 2 stops, Church of La Salute 4 stops, San Marco Square 5 stops, Lido 10 stops / Rialto 3 stops, Rialto Market 4 stops, Ca' d'Oro Museum 5 stops, Prada Foundation 6 stops.

By Traghetto
You can cross the Grand Canal from one bank to the other using a public gondola (Traghetto) that runs between San Toma and San Angelo. Hours: 8:30 AM / 6 PM (winter time) ou 7 PM (summer time). It costs €2.

On Foot
From Palazzo Amalteo, you may walk to the Church of Frari (1 minute) or to Scuola Grande San Rocco (2 minutes). You can take a pleasant stroll to the Rialto Market (8 minutes) or the Rialto Bridge itself (11 minutes). You can easily reach the Ferrovia train station (11 minutes) or the Piazza Roma car park (12 minutes).
